It's time to get voting, the nominees for the 2012 TV Choice Awards have been anounced.
Hosted by Jo Brand, the awards will be taking place in London‘s illustrious Dorchester Hotel on Monday the 10th of September, where the fights are bound to be as fierce as the outfits on show.
After Sherlock walked off with Best New Drama last year, it’s back to try and claim Best Drama, but faces a fight from period drama and cultural phenomenon Downton Abbey, the irrepressible Shameless and the surprise package of Skins.
Best New Drama’s a trans-Atlantic fight this time between the UK’s Call the Midwife and Prisoner’s Wives and America’s hottest new imports Homeland and Once Upon A Time.
The battles for the acting gongs look as tight as ever. The time travelling team of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are both nominated for the continually great Doctor Who (which itself faces off against Glee, Merlin and Waterloo Road for the Best Family Drama prize), with Gillan looking to defend her crown. She faces competition from Miranda Hart, Jaye Jacobs and Freya Mavor while Matt Smith’s looking to beat away Martin Clunes, Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Morgan.
The best reality show contest looks set to be between the ‘scripted reality’ shows battling the more traditional fair, with Made In Chelsea and The Only Way is Essex going head to head against I’m A Celebrity and the controversial Big Fat Gypsy Weddings.
We’ve got the whole list below for you to look over and remember to cast your votes before July 13th at www.tvchoicemagazine.co.uk to make sure your favourites get the prizes they deserve.
