Kaya Scodelario, Jack O’Connell and Hannah Murray are set to return to Skins for the show’s closing series.
With Skins heading into its seventh series the show’s going out on a rather different route. Instead of refreshing the cast list once again and going for one last tour, the series will take the form of three two hour long specials called Skins Pure, Skins Rise and Skins Fire, each focussing on a different character entering adulthood.
Skins Pure will focus on Hannah Murray’s Cassie, now struggling to make sense of her life back in London, only to find a blossoming relationship in the most unlikely of places.
Rise will centre on O’Connell’s Cook, now working as a drug runner in Manchester who finds his footing become a bit shaky when he falls for his bosses girlfriend.
Lastly, we have Fire, which will see Scodelario’s Effy now working as receptionist for a London finance company. Unsure of what to do with sensitive information she gets from her boss during an affair, she sees her life unravel, with her flatmate Naomi (Lily Loveless is also reprising her role as an old favourite) helpless.
All three actors have had their careers lift off since their time with the show, with Jack O’Connell playing a key role in dramas United and Dive, Hannah Murray securing a role on Game Of Thrones and Kaya Scodelario starring in True Love and receiving massive critical acclaim for her role in last year’s cinematic adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
Due to air next spring, the specials will hopefully bring a fitting end to one of E4’s biggest hits.
