Both of the UK’s TV big guns ITV and BBC One have confirmed their Christmas Day schedules before the two lock horns over control of the family viewing over the festive period.
BBC One’s bringing out it’s Christmas specials, with Doctor Who, Call the Midwife and The Royle Family all having their specials airing on the 25th, with the always eventful Christmas episode of Eastenders and Strictly Come Dancing also confirmed for the occasion.
ITV’s putting most of its money on the family though, choosing to air two animated films in the shape of Toy Story and Tangled before Christmas editions of both Emmerdale and Coronation Street, before unleashing its biggest weapon in the form of period drama Downton Abbey.
While Channel 4 is yet to confirm it’s Christmas Day schedule, it has unveiled that Australian comedian Adam Hills will be the host of their Alternative Christmas Message, following his stellar work on Paralympic related comedy The Last Leg.
