Dead Parrot has been voted the top Monty Python sketch in a survey conducted of 2,000 British adults.
Commissioned to mark the screening of the very last Monty Python live show on Sunday July 20 on Gold, respondents were asked to select their top sketch from a long list of over 35 scenes.
A massive 45% of participants voted for the Dead Parrot sketch which takes place in a pet shop, featuring Cleese as an exasperated customer trying to get his money back from stubborn pet salesman Palin.
Second place was awarded to The Lumberjack Song which garnered 28% of the votes whilst The Ministry of Silly Walks came in at number three with 23% of the votes.

Just missing out were Silly Olympics, Hell's Grannies and Gay Policemen, all taking 6% each.
Gold's General Manager Steve North said: “It’s clear from our research that Monty Python has crossed the generations, 45 years on from the very first series. We’re honoured to be broadcasting the final Monty Python Live (mostly): stage show on our channel so that fans at home can be part of the last ever performance from the most iconic group of comedians in the world.”
