Fans of RuPaul's Drag Race have never been happier with the amount of content coming their way. We've seen not only the main series, but RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars as well as RuPaul's Drag Race UK, Canada's Drag Race, Drag Race Thailand and even Secret Celebrity Drag Race. Now, The Netherlands are getting involved in the action, with Drag Race Holland coming to screens a little later this month (September 2020).
Late last night (September 7th, 2020), all 10 of the Dutch queens competing in the first ever season of Drag Race Holland were revealed. Here, we take a look at each of them and find out a little bit more about the personalities we'll be watching battle it out for the title of Holland's Next Drag Superstar...
Miss Abby OMG, 25 from Breda
Having grown up in Brazil, Miss Abby OMG was born out of a move to the Netherlands which saw the queen getting involved in the Dutch drag community. Nowadays, she's a recognisable name in the artistic world of drag, performing next to some of America's biggest drag names and picking up bookings all over the Netherlands. As well as being a huge name in her own right, she's also a part of the well-known Amsterdam drag house Mermaids Mansion. Let's hope she leaves us saying, 'OMG!'
Roem, 21 from Tilburg
Everything Roem has ever done as a drag queen has been online, so you could say she's the perfect contender in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic! Whilst this makes her an utterly unique contender in Drag Race Holland, she's still ready to compete and show everything she's got. Having grown up in the middle of the Dutch Bible Belt, Urk, she knows exactly what it's like to fight against adversity and take on a challenge.
Chelseaboy, 26 from Amsterdam
Chelseaboy uses their drag to explore topics such as gender and identity with their audience, taking fans to never-before-seen realms during their futuristic yet nostalgic performances. Prosthetics and head sculptures aren't foreign to this drag artist; they're ready to compete and show the world that they are, in their own words, a "gender hybrid transformer".
Janey Jacké, 28 from Amsterdam
After 10 years of impressing audiences with their drag skill, Janey Jacké is ready to show the world exactly what she's got on a bigger stage than ever before. Known internationally for her unique performances, she's already had a taste of the spotlight thanks to prior TV appearances, and performances in the US and Greece. Expect some major dance numbers from this queen!
Ma'MaQueen, 30 from Rotterdam
Ma'MaQueen has always been fascinated with the social construction of gender. As the mother of The House of Holographic Hoes - a drag house in Rotterdam - they're already somebody with a wealth of expertise in this world. Identifying as gender-neutral, Ma'MaQueen is described as a "conceptual look queen" who will take care of anybody who needs it. Perhaps a good early pick for Miss Congeniality of the season?
Madame Madness, 24 from Amsterdam
Exciting news everybody: Drag Race worldwide will see the arrival of their first bearded queen in Madame Madness! Breaking through the gender constructs of masculinity and femininity, Madame Madness hopes to spread the message that being different isn't a bad thing.
Envy Peru, 31 from Amsterdam
Envy Peru came to the Netherlands aged four with their mother, and has gone on to become the most followed drag queen on social media in the Benelux. The other competitors will likely be sizing her up as big competition when she arrives; not least her sister Miss Abby OMG with whom she founded drag house Mermaids Mansion - also a contestant this season!
Sederginne, 26 from Antwerpen
Sederginne is a comedy queen and the only Flemish queen in the competition. Despite being 26 in the real world, this drag act is an older lady who doesn't care about aging herself through the drag process. Having been performing for nine years, she's ready to slide into the hearts of people across the globe with the fundamental message, "Drag is fun!"
Patty Pam-Pam, 34 from Amsterdam
Patty Pam-Pam promises that if necessary, she'll perform a whole show ballet to stay in the competition. Always in homemade couture from head to toe, she flits between camp and fashion with ease, with a creativity unlike most others!
Megan Schoonbrood, 32 from Rotterdam
Spending over half their life in the drag business, Megan Schoonbrood could be one to watch going into Drag Race Holland. Described as "sympathetic, articulate, clever, extravagent, beautiful, classic and a little bit trashy", she's certainly an all-rounder. With 23 Number One pageant titles and the Dusty Tiara award thanks to her work in the LGBTI community, she's going to be a major competitor.
Drag Race Holland comes to WOW Presents Plus in the UK from Friday, September 18th, 2020. The streaming service is currently offering a seven-day free trial for new subscribers - find out more at www.uk.wowpresentsplus.com!
