UPDATE: WWE have issued the following statement: "Jerry Lawler was arrested at his home Friday morning by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office in Memphis, Tenn.
"According to a police report, Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were taken into custody and booked on alleged charges of domestic assault - bodily harm, a misdemeanor.
"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest."
Professional wrestling icon and current WWE commentator Jerry 'The King' Lawler has been arrested along with his fiancée, with both accusing the other of domestic abuse, police have said.
Lawler, 66, and 27-year-old fiancée Lauryn McBride were arrested on Friday morning (June 17) after police were called to their home in Memphis.
Each told the cops that the other had started the violent fight in the kitchen, meaning that so far police have been unable to determine the truth.
McBride says that Lawler shoved her up against the kitchen counter, hitting her in the head before going upstairs, bringing down a handgun and saying: "Go ahead and kill yourself".
Lawler's explanation says McBride scratched his face, kicked him in the groin and threw a candle at him, before getting the handgun from the garage and placing it in the kitchen.
If Lawler is found guilty of domestic abuse, it's likely WWE will release him from the company after doing the same with wrestler Adam Rose, who was arrested for domestic abuse. Charges against Rose were dropped by prosecutors earlier this week, however.
