Between 2004 and 2010, J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Jeffrey Lieber stunned audiences across the globe with mystery series Lost. Though we had a lot of love for the show, there were many of us who weren’t too impressed with the way things ended.

In the past few years, chatter about a potential reboot has reached a high. Executive producer Lindelof even said he would love to see the show make a return at some point in the near future.

If that were to happen however, we’d have to see some fresh faces taking on the roles of characters we fell in love with during the original run. Whilst that would be a tough task for any performer - to capture the hearts of audiences who are already connected to somebody else in a role - it’s something that we think could happen if casting directors get crafty with their decision making.

Here are the stars we’d love to see as part of a Lost reboot…

Time and again we’ve seen Alycia Debnam-Carey prove her acting chops in a multitude of different roles, where she’s asked to draw on a barrage of unique emotions. All have prepared her perfectly to take on a character as complicated as Kate Austen.

After killing her abusive father, Kate has spent many years on the run from the law when she crash lands on the island that is to cause so much chaos. Avoiding the eye of authority has prepared her for a life of survival, so much so that she becomes one of the key players when it comes to providing for all of the other survivors of Oceanic Flight 815.

Patrick Dempsey as Jack Shephard

Ah, McDreamy. How we miss you from our screens whenever we flick over to Grey’s Anatomy! Patrick Dempsey has showcased his charisma and nerve throughout his storied career to-date and we can’t help but think he’d be the ideal person to shine a light on Jack’s obsessive and often distracting personality traits.

Incapable of accepting failure, Jack was the last person to accept the reality of his situation when the original Lost series came to an end. He pretty much personified much of the audience at the time, who were unable to let go of many questions they had that forever went unanswered.

Garrett Hedlund as James 'Sawyer' Ford

Star of TRON: Legacy and Mudbound, Garrett Hedlund is a super-talented actor who hasn’t yet really been given a massive role to step into the shoes of. That could change with a Lost reboot, as the forever-charming Sawyer would need somebody of his stature and skill to be brought back to life.

Perhaps the most complicated character on the island, Sawyer was a brash and selfish person, but with a loving and caring side that he'd slowly begin to reveal if his fellow survivors made the effort to scratch beneath the surface.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Locke

Perhaps the most seasoned actor on our list today, Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be able to bring the often-misjudged confidence that John Locke possessed and combine it with a thirst for power and leadership that we’re sure any director on a rebooted Lost would want to showcase.

After growing up in foster care, Locke was conned by his biological father in later life in giving up one of his kidneys, before being pushed out of a window by the man who was supposed to love him. He spent the next four years of his life paralysed in a wheelchair, but his arrival on the island gave him the use of his legs back again. For Locke, the crash landing was actually a blessing in disguise…

Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Charlie Pace

We've seen Aaron Taylor-Johnson play superheroes and the titular character in Kick-Ass and its sequel, but he's also proven that he’s able to play the more reserved or demanding roles such as those he took on in The Wall and last year’s Tenet. Charlie Pace however, would be his biggest challenge to-date.

As a member of a relatively-successful rock band, Charlie has previously been enveloped in a world of drug taking which led to a heroin addiction; something he struggles with being forced to keep at bay following the plane crash. His story is one of the most emotional and heart-wrenching, and Taylor-Johnson is certainly someone who’d be able to play it with perfection.

Kayvan Novak as Sayid Jarrah

Renowned for his comedic performances, Kayvan Novak is also a pretty stellar actor when it comes to getting serious in front of the camera. As Sayid Jarrah, he could step into the role of a lifetime.

As a former Iraqi Republican Guard torturer, Sayid knows what it is to lead, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty if it means keeping those he cares about safe. Despite that, he's got a spirituality that goes unrivalled; Novak would be the perfect person to showcase that balance.

Jesse Plemons as Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes

Having achieved success in his career from a very young age, Jesse Plemons is a seasoned veteran of acting despite being just 32 years old. Always relatable, he’s the ideal person to bring fan-favourite character Hurley back; a lucky lottery winner whose luck seems to quickly run out when he boards Oceanic Flight 815.

Always working hard to keep his fellow survivors smiling, Hurley was often a voice of reason who would bring balance to the group which consisted of far too many type-A personalities.
