His much-anticipated debut for the Galaxy saw him star in a friendly against English Premiership runners-up Chelsea Beckhams old rivals from his days at Manchester United. Beckham showed some deft touches during a cameo appearance after coming onto the pitch in the 78th minute to huge cheers and a sea of camera flashes. He withstood a heavy challenge from Chelseas Steve Sidwell, and gave his fans a glimpse of the skills they can expect throughout the rest of the season, before applauding the star-studded, sellout crowd at The Home Depot Center on the final whistle. Galaxy lost the match 1-0, but can take some real positives from the performance as they prepare for their first competitive matches with their new star.
