The contestants must bake a range of treats

Tonight sees the return of the Great British Bake Off - but this time, it will be celebrities sweating it out under the watchful eye of baking professionals.

This special series of programmes is in aid of Sport Relief 2012, and features a group of celebrities, who must perform under pressure to create baking triumphs to impress, and keep their place in the competition. Can they stand the heat? Only time will tell.

Presented by Mel Giedroyc, and judged by baking Queen, Mary Berry, and renowned Artisan bread maker, Paul Hollywood, the show will see twelve celebrities competing against each other. Four of them face the challenges each night, with one from each show going to the grand final to fight it out for title of best baker.

Among the famous faces taking part are Angela Griffin, Arlene Phillips, Saira Kahn, Anita Rani, BBC weatherman Alex Deakin, and TV gardener, Joe Swift.

The show usually showcases a group of amateur home bakers, who are keen to show off their baking skills, as they create a variety of treats - from pies and pastries, to cakes, bread and meringues. It enjoyed a successful second series in 2011, with another to come this year, as a new batch of hopefuls take on the challenge.

The Great Sport Relief Bake Off, tonight (Tuesday January 10), and every night this week, 8pm on BBC2.
