Judy Finnigan punched husband Richard Madely in a bid to stop him using their TV show to vent his anger at a mugger who attacked his daughter yesterday (06.03.07).Richard shook his fist and launched a tirade of abuse into the camera as he told the story of 19-year-old Chloe's attack, causing Judy to punch him on the knee and tell him to stop.A show spokesman told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Richard was very upset and wanted to make his feelings known in angry defiance of the mugger."Chloe was attacked shortly before Channel 4's Richard and Judy show went on air yesterday.She is doing work experience at a London PR firm and when she went out to get a sandwich, whilst talking on her mobile phone, a girl ran up to her, pulled her hair and prized the phone from her hands.Chloe said yesterday: "I am absolutely fine. I was walking along talking on my phone when a girl ran up behind me and grabbed it then ran off."It all happened so fast. I am fine now, I was just a bit shocked."
The mugging left Richard fuming live on air and he raged: "I'd just like to make a gesture at this point to the person who stole out daughter's mobile phone.
"She got 'jacked' on the street today. She's all right though, had her hair pulled."
The chat show host is known for airing personal issues on live television.
In the past he has talked about his vasectomy, mentioned Judy's women's troubles and talked about Chloe's first period.
Last month when the show became the centre of allegations that their television phone quiz, 'You Say We Pay', was a scam, Richard - who claimed to know nothing about viewers being unfairly charged for calls - said: "I feel f***ing furious about this and so does Judy."
