Bbc Controller Resigns After Queen Row....

BBC One boss Peter Fincham has resigned following the row over manipulated footage on a documentary on Queen Elizabeth Ii.The BBC was forced to apologise to the Queen earlier this year (Jul07) after it admitted making a "misleading" trailer for documentary A Year With The Queen - which suggested the British monarch walked out of a photoshoot with acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz.Fincham claimed she was "walking out in a huff" - but the footage used actually showed the Royal walking to the shoot.Bbc director general Mark Thompson says: "Serious mistakes were made".In a letter, Fincham says it was "with great regret" that he has quit.He says, "I have had the tremendous privilege of leading Bbc One through a period where the channel has undergone creative renewal."Whilst I leave the channel with great sadness, I am tremendously proud of what I and my team have achieved."

It is not yet known whether the documentary will be screened.
