Currently in its ninth season, The Real Housewives of New York City has managed to entertain audiences in the US and beyond with its whacky drama, compelling storylines and real-life chaos. Though the ladies we watch on screen are usually enjoying lives of luxury that only the minority of the viewing public also experience, they all find ways to become relatable to the audience, and perhaps none more so than Bethenny Frankel.

As one of the original New York Housewives, Bethenny has shared her journey from going to everyday girl to hardworking business entrepreneur, entertaining us all with her quick wit on the way. Living her life in the public eye, whether it be for good reasons or bad, she’s never been afraid to open herself up to her fans. With that in mind, we got the chance to have a quick chat with Bethenny all about the current season of RHONY and her fragile friendship with cast-mate Ramona Singer…

How will we see yours and Ramona’s relationship develop throughout the upcoming episodes? We’ve seen some drama on the show already…

I think you’ll find that this is just the tip of the iceberg and there is a lot more coming as the series continues. This was only the smallest moment that we’ve seen so far and there is a lot more drama and fighting to come and I think the audience definitely needs to prepare for that.

Why do you think Ramona comes out with insults such as ‘wicked’ and ‘witch’? Does she really mean it or is there just no filter?

I think the insults are planned. It was sort of like waiting for a ‘gotcha’ moment. To be honest, I’m a very open book so I don’t particularly care, but I was just surprised that she would have involved my daughter in one of the arguments; it’s just bad taste. I talk about it in my book so I think you can really just tell that I’m not someone to keep things hidden ever.

We did see you two really get on in season 8 and Ramona was really there for you when you were going through some issues with your health, so is the friendship a reparable one?

I mean, I haven’t ever done anything on my end and I think we’re at that point where I don’t want to look or feel like a fool when it comes to these sorts of arguments. Like I said, this is just the tip of the iceberg and therefore, as the series goes on you’ll see that we’re at a very different point in our friendship.

Who do you think has changed the most after the events of season 8 when compared to this season?

I think we all have. Season 8 was a very explosive season and a lot of damage was done. However, I think with this season it’s a bit more of a slow burn and a lot deeper. This season we have the election coming up which is difficult on Carole [Radziwill], and there are a couple of things that I managed to keep under wraps which start coming out during the season. However, we also have some really good moments in this season as well.

My personal life was coming together, I sold my apartment which was great. I have a lot going on in my personal life like my brand Skinnygirl and you see that I have a great friendship with Carole and my daughter, so life is good.

We also go on a trip at the end of the season where we all come together. There was a fair share of nights where we had some fun and a few hangovers and you can see us dropping like flies every dinner. Overall, I do think I had a great season, even with the drama.
