With Christmas just a few weeks away, millions across the United Kingdom were anxiously awaiting the release of the annual John Lewis festive ad! This year, the company have teamed up with legendary British singer Elton John to release a fantastic visual, reflecting on the artist's career. Check it out below:

So, what do the public think of this year's offering? Some have noted that it could be viewed as more of a celebration of Elton John than Christmas itself, but what they must realise is that the point of the ad is to remind those watching that a single gift can change somebody's life forever, as Elton's piano from his family at a young age did for him.

Others said that it was a beautiful piece that gave a little bit of happiness amongst the chaos of Brexit in the UK right now, happy to escape the political juggernauts slugging it out in Parliament this week!

Not everybody thought the distraction was enough, though...

Whichever side of the fence you fall on, the visuals are going to be seen on the small screen for the next few weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

This is likely to be one of the most expensive ads of the year, with reports coming in that it cost around £7 million - around £5 million of which was paid to Sir Elton John to star in it (according to Express.co.uk).
