11th May 200721.00–22.00Continuing this evening is the third season of the hit drama series following a team of special agents who investigate Navy and Marine Corps-related crimes. In tonight’s instalment, a student at a Quantico high school holds his classmates hostage after strapping a bomb to his body, but Gibbs and his team suspect the teenager is not acting alone. The NCIS team are confronted with a tricky situation when they get news of a teenager holding his classmates hostage at a Quantico school. Fifteen-year-old Kody Meyers has walked into his classroom with a bomb strapped to his chest, and is refusing to let anyone leave, apart from one girl who he allows out to fetch another’s inhaler. When Gibbs decides to make the dangerous move into the classroom to deliver the inhaler, Kody is furious and tells him to get out or he will detonate the bomb. “I’m the last chance you have of getting out of here alive,” counters Gibbs calmly. The rest of the team now have ‘eyes and ears’ in the room, as Gibbs has been fitted with an earpiece and a wrist microphone. But it is not long before Kody orders another student to check Gibbs for these devices and destroy them. The watching agents are surprised that Kody knew where to look, and that he is familiar with all of Gibbs’s negotiation tactics. “You have no idea what you’re dealing with here,” he tells Gibbs. Tony and Ziva are worried that they cannot see or hear what is going on inside the classroom, so Tony takes matters into his own hands. Speaking through the door, he tells Kody that he is Gibbs’s boss and can get him whatever he wants. Kody replies that he wants his mother brought to the classroom by sunset. “If you can’t do that, everyone dies.” But when Kody’s father, Marine Major Ken Meyers (guest star Paul Schulze, ‘The Sopranos’), arrives, he tells the agents that Kody’s mother died a year ago – but that Kody’s mind has “been playing tricks on him”, making him believe that she is still alive.Back at the lab, Abby and McGee have been going through Kody’s computer and have found out that Kody sent his mother’s photograph around the internet to see if she had been spotted. While doing so, they realise that there are computers with web-cams in the classroom that can be hacked into – thereby providing new ‘eyes and ears’ for the rest of the team and enabling them to send covert messages to their boss.

When Gibbs works out what Abby and McGee have done, he lets them know that he believes Kody may not be acting alone: he has spotted that the teenager is wearing an earpiece and is probably receiving instructions from somebody. With sundown rapidly approaching, the team are faced with a race against time as they try to find out who is pulling Kody’s strings – and why.
