And there’s something in Annalese’s tone that tells Connie she knows her man - and that she also knows women like Connie.
Maddy is curious about the new intern and wonders if he needs a hand. Eager to prove himself on his own merit, Tom rejects the offer. However, the case isn’t as straight forward as he thinks and then Saskia comes to see Tom. Her boss thinks it was her fooling about in the new crèche. It’s only a matter of time before he reviews the security tapes on the new CCTV camera set up there and they will find out the truth. She needs Tom’s help. She needs him to get the tapes before they are viewed. Now Tom’s torn – he doesn’t want to leave a damsel in distress but he’s also got his medical problem to sort out.
Connie’s big operation starts. The new board members, Ric, Jayne and Carr are watching from the viewing gallery. Carr, an influential new board member who clearly has an eye for Connie, quizzes Ric– so what are you going to do about the complaint they’ve received from last week’s obese patient? The patient has gone to the press and they want answers. Ric doesn’t need this right now. Carr explains that if Ric doesn’t address this now Holby will gain more negative press.

She’s slightly snappy with Mark, nice thought, but she doesn’t want to be treated any differently. Daisha quickly, efficiently works through her cases. One case sticks with her, a woman the same age as her finding out she is pregnant and doesn’t want it. The patient asks Daisha for advice. Although the patient doesn’t know Daisha’s history she is shocked that someone would ask her for advice. Daisha explains that she will need to make those decisions on her own.
In the operation. Time is passing but it’s hard work as it’s a long, complicated operation. A machine bleeps. Quietly at first, getting louder and quicker. Something’s not right as BP is crashing. Annalese reads out the stats – it’s not looking good. Ric starts to offer his opinion about what is going wrong. Connie isn’t interested. Ric believes if she doesn’t take his advice her patient will die. Still Connie resists – this is her patient, her procedure, her rules! Annalese wants to side with Ric… she can see his point. The pressure is on as Connie is losing her patient.
Meanwhile, Daisha finishes work and picks up Baby Joe, she really wants a night off. Rachel offers to take care of Joe, Daisha can’t believe her luck. Mark invites Daisha for a meal, for the first time today Daisha actually looks happy.
Tom looks at Maddy – is she the answer to his problems? He sweet-talks her and asks, can she help. Please? Maddy is busy, but there’s a bottle of wine and dinner on him if she helps. Tom wants Maddy to distract Saskia’s boss while he gets the tapes – and eventually she agrees. Maddy and Tom head off and as. Maddy distracts the boss, Tom quickly steals the tape- he’s saved!
Connie has to think fast and manages to get the BP to normal. Connie has done it. Ric looks on, now highly suspicious of Connie’s original motives for doing the operation at all. But Ric is the one who faces the press post op, informing them of the success of the operation and actually stealing the glory. Connie is now jealous and very suspicious of Ric. He’s not going to give up DOS that easily.
