Its Connie's big moment, the patient is ready, the camera is all set up and Los Angeles is watching. It's the day of her new procedure but there is a problem- Michael is no where in sight. Embarrassed she cancels the procedure and immediately looks for Michael for an explanation.
Elliot is doing his rounds with Joseph who informs him that he and Faye have set a date for the wedding. Joseph has made a full recovery after the chemical contamination and he says that they don't want to waste any more time. Elliot is thrilled for Joseph and wishes that Martha had been sensible and waited until she was older to marry. Joseph looks to see Jac listening to their conversation and is expecting a reaction, but she is impassive. She opened her heart to him last week and he rejected her. Jac has moved on.
Connie goes to see Jayne and wants Michael's head on a plate. Jayne has other important things to worry about as Kathy Hewitt is threatening court action, blaming Ric's zero tolerance policy for her husband's death.
Daisha's sister Lalaine is making herself at home with Daisha and Mark. She wants to look after baby Joe so Daisha can save money and have more time to herself, which Daisha loves. Chrissie doesn't approve of her father living with two young women and wonders what people will think. Mark explains that he doesn't mind as long as Daisha is happy. Chrissie seems to think there is more to it.
It's obvious to Connie that this may spell the end for Ric as Kathy Hewitt is blaming Ric's zero tolerance policy for her husband's death. Connie also knows that Ric was Jayne's appointment, and because she has endorsed his campaign her neck could be on the line too. Jayne asks Connie to attend a meeting with the board as she will need all the help she can get. Connie agrees. Connie knows her time has finally come - she needs to prepare for her succession. Connie wants to bring Ric down to secure her position has the next Director of Surgery.
Elliot meets with Ben, he is declared fit and healthy and ready to go home. 'Martha explains that they need to find a place of their own and asks if Elliot mind if they stay with him until they find a place.'. He can't say no.
For her mission Connie needs to rally support and visits Linden as she is really impressed with how he has revolutionised AAU. She outlines her plan to generate more revenue and give more autonomy to HoDs (the opposite of Ric's policy). Should she raise this at the HoD meeting? Linden says he'll definitely support her.
Martha tells Elliot that she has something special planed for the afternoon. Elliot can't think without food and he and Joseph order a Chinese to aid them solve a particularly difficult case.
Fran Barclay, Connie's patient from the cancelled procedure comes around demanding to see her. Connie and Michael come over and Fran informs them that she was awake during the whole thing and was glad it was cancelled. Connie tries to inform her that this is very rare and couldn't have happened but Fran quotes Connie's angry outbursts towards Michael proving her case.
Fran explains that she is leaving the hospital but Connie tries to talk her out of it, if she doesn't have this procedure it could lead to more complications. Fran is willing to take the risk as nothing is worse than being awake during surgery. A desperate Connie informs Fran that she is only doing this with her best interests at heart but in fact Connie needs this operation to be a success more than Fran needs it.
Elliot and Joseph come up with ideas as they eat their Chinese. Martha arrives and asks if he is ready for their special treat - she has organised a picnic with healthy food as she is determined to improve her father's health. Elliot looks over the food, he is clearly full and even if he wasn't he wouldn't touch any of this stuff. Martha explains that Ben is going to join them.
Once there Elliot clearly isn't interested in either the food or anything Ben has to say. Martha asks Elliot why he is being so difficult at which all his anger and frustration about Martha's marriage comes out.
Elliot explains that he only has one daughter and that he is upset at not being able to walk her down the aisle. Does Martha have any idea how it feels not to be given the chance to do that? Martha is upset as she never meant to hurt her father but he heads off with Samson running after him. Samson runs across the road and there is a screech and a thud as the dog is hit by an ambulance. Elliot rushes to Samson's side and Martha, seeing her dad distraught, blames herself.
Connie heads into the meeting and criticises Ric's new changes which Jayne agreed to. This is not what Jayne wanted and when Linden also mentions that he isn't happy with them Jayne ends the meeting. Jayne asks Connie not to return. It is not turning into the best day for Connie.
Connie asks Annalese to convince Fran into having the procedure without filming it. Connie needs this to happen and is reaching boiling point.
A foul-tempered Connie is operating with Annalese when Paul Rose enters and Connie wants to know why he keeps popping up in Annalese's procedures and smells a rat.
Connie meets with Rose after the operation and wants to know what he is up to. Rose tells her that Annalese failed the drink test but that Ric had kept it quiet. Connie finally understands and gives her the ammunition she needs.
The vet arrives to see to Samson but it doesn't look good. Elliot dismisses him and says that he will take Samson home.
