Chrissie stands outside Holby thinking about her future as an ambulance pulls into the driveway. The paramedic pulls out a patient on a gurney – Sam rushes out and jumps into action. It’s a car accident involving a mother and son. Sam needs a hand – he turns to see Chrissie, standing there watching. He calls to her but she stands firm by which time it’s too late and the mother dies. The son, Tim is devastated and in need of comfort, Chrissie lends her support.

Joseph receives a telephone call about the wedding venue- they have had to cancel. They explain that the venue won’t be available for another 18 months. Joseph informs Faye who doesn’t take the news lightly. Faye doesn’t want to wait that long- Joseph suggests they get married in the new few weeks ‘why wait for next year?’ Faye isn’t happy by the idea.

Jayne’s son Christian has now been moved to ITU under special instructions and Connie’s care. Connie has decided to close the door on her feelings for Jon and move on. Jon goes to find Connie– he wants a word with her. She tells him there’s nothing more to say. He says that what’s happened hasn’t changed anything. Connie says that it’s changed everything but Jon think that they’re great together.

Chrissie stays with Tim and he tells Chrissie about a promise he has made with God. Chrissie asks more and Tim explains that when he was born he made a promise to become a preacher or a priest. Chrissie is shocked by the boy’s determination to serve God at such a young age.

Jon is confused about how he feels about Connie, he wants to carry on seeing her as he can’t deny that there is something between them but Connie explains that he is married to someone she works with. Connie thinks about what she is doing to Jayne and doesn’t want to sneak around behind her back to which Jon says he’ll leave Jayne.

Meanwhile, Tim’s father starts preaching to his son about his future as a Christian preacher. Chrissie walks over and says that it is not the place or the time for that sort of conversation as Tim is still in a critical position and needs rest. The father is outraged at her for interfering and asks Linden to remove her. Chrissie hopes that Linden will take her side but he doesn’t and Chrissie walks away.

Christian’s pulse starts to fade, Connie and Jon rush to his bedside and Jayne and Jon watch as Connie and her team battle to help save his life. In theatre Connie operates on Christian and looks up to see Jayne and Jon standing in the viewing gallery holding hands. She looks back down at the and realises that much as she’d love to be with Jon she can’t take him away from his family.

Joseph just can’t do right for doing wrong. He tries to talk to Daisha to get a female perspective and the penny finally drops. Faye’s insecure about the pregnant Daisha. He tries to find Faye to talk to her and tell her that he loves her. He tells her that he is kine about not having children as he is already like a father to Archie. To prove it to her he wants to marry as soon as he can. Faye wonders if he’s sure but Joseph reassures her that he only wants to be with her.

Chrissie seems to have made her mind up. She no longer wants to be a nurse. As she leaves Holby City she sees Sam and explains to him that she is leaving and giving it all up. Sam cannot see her being happy sitting behind a Hotel desk but after a day like today Chrissie thinks that turning her back on Holby City might be a good thing. She says goodbye to Sam, and they fall into a hug. At this moment, Maria sees Sam and their eyes lock. Maria turns to hug Aaron – well, at least she has him. Something jars with Sam though – perhaps he has some feelings for Maria after all?
