We may be nearly two weeks into July 2021, but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen all that’s to come for the small box; not by far! Here, we take a look at the seven best new and returning TV shows of the month, so that you don’t have to go sifting through the countless channels to find something entertaining!
7. Monsters At Work (Season 1) - Available now on Disney+
Taking place just a day after the events of the original Monsters Inc. movie, Monsters at Work follows the power plant workers who are now harvesting the laughter of children to fuel Monstropolis, rather than their screams.
The new series follows young monster Tylor Tuskmon, who graduated top of his class at Monsters University in the hopes of becoming a top Scarer. Now though, with the business model completely changed, he must work alongside a group of misfits whilst setting his sights on something new; becoming a Jokester.
6. Atypical (Season 4, Final) - Available now on Netflix
The story of Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist) comes to a close in the final season of hit Netflix comedy series, Atypical. Looking for love and independence, this young man - who happens to be on the autism spectrum - faces new challenges and a goal that might be completely impossible.
With Jennifer Jason Leigh as his mother Elsa, Michael Rapaport as his father Doug, and Brigette Lundy-Paine as his sister Casey, this is a cast worth watching!
5. War of the Worlds (Season 2) - Starts July 16th, 2021 on STAR via Disney+
The human survivors of the alien attack must mount their own fight following a slew of devastating losses, in the second season of War of the Worlds.
Created by Howard Overman, the series picks up six months after the initial attack, with our characters discovering, shockingly, that there are undeniable similarities between the humans and the aliens. Could one of them have a special connection to their attackers, or is paranoia simply ramping up?
4. Baptiste (Season 2, Final Season) - Starts July 18th, 2021 on BBC One
Tchéky Karyo is back as retired police investigator Julien Baptiste, alongside Fiona Shaw who makes her debut in the series, as British Ambassador Emma Chambers, in episodes that will explore an entirely-new case and expose the corrupt underbelly of Budapest.
The six-part series sees our titular character completely changed after a personal tragedy, having pushed his wife away and looking for something else to consume him. With this new case, he may have gotten more than he bargained for…
3. Professor T (Season 1) - Starts July 18th, 2021 on ITV
A new crime drama is headed to ITV with Ben Miller and Frances de la Tour and for those who haven't got BritBox, they'll be able to experience the show for the first time in all its glory, on ITV.
Miller plays criminologist Professor Jasper Tempest; a reluctant but brilliant detective who solves a series of crimes in Cambridge and beyond. He’s joined by the likes of Emma Naomi and Barney White in the cast.
2.. Masters of The Universe: Revelation (Limited Series) - Available July 23rd, 2021 on Netflix
Picking up where the iconic characters left off decades ago, Masters of the Universe: Revelation will see the war for Eternia reach a dramatic conclusion.
Following a battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia has been left fractured with the Guardians of Grayskull scattered. With decades of secrets tearing them apart, it's up to the heroes of the story to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power, and restore Eternia before the universe reaches a dramatic end.
1. Law & Order: Organized Crime (Season 1) - Starts July 30th, 2021 on Sky Witness
Another spin-off of the long-running Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been commissioned, this time bringing Christopher Meloni back into the fold as Elliot Stabler, front-and-centre for a single-arc storyline that will take multiple episodes to resolve.
Already renewed for a second season, we can’t wait to jump in and get to know Meloni’s character a little better, as well as the roster of new characters that will undoubtedly come into play over the first string of episodes.
