Calling themselves "the company for women", Avon are back with two brand new television ads celebrating the women who represent the company, hoping to demonstrate that over the whopping 130 years they've been in business that they continue to offer great quality and affordable cosmetics, whist remaining true to its values and enabling women to work their way.
Since it launched, Avon has always been about empowering women by giving them the opportunity to work for themselves, fitting their working life around other responsibilities and priorities, even giving women the opportunity to earn for themselves before they could officially politically vote.
The new ads launch challenges current brand perception by featuring four of its star independent Avon Representives as well as blind testing products with beauty bloggers to prove the quality and value of what's on offer. Reactions captured in the visuals are genuine and all the Representative stars were chosen as the result of a casting day Avon held, where they were invited to tell their own stories.
Advert #1 - 'Make Up Your Own Mind' (running from October 5-31)
The brand's first new advertisement puts products to the test with some of the industry's toughest critics in beauty bloggers Helen Anderson, Mother Pukka and LoveLaughandMakeup. Given no clues regarding the brands they were blind testing, they were instead given an unbranded mysterious black box of makeup to trial. Live reactions were captured which is what the viewer will see here.
Advert #2 - 'Work It Your Way' (running from Oct 13 - November 30)
Launching next week, this advert will demonstrate realism featuring some stars of the company. 60 hand-picked reps were chosen to audition at Avon's Northampton Head Office after over 400 applications, with the chosen four ranging from an entrepreneurial woman who runs her own Avon business alongside her cleaning company to a young woman promoting the products through social media selfies.
Marketing Director at Avon, Anthony Wells said: "Avon's purpose still stands as, The Company for Women, and today 130 years later we're still working hard to empower women through our flexible working opportunities, great quality affordable products and our causes. It therefore seems only fitting that our Avon Representatives and hero products take centre stage in this new and provocative campaign - Avon is the only beauty company with a truly authentic purpose."
