'Atlantis' is the latest BBC offering into the world of family fantasy drama.

Using the right amount of humour with intense action and witty dialogue, it's managed to maintain a steady viewership and has even already been renewed for a second series.

The acting is questionable at times from some of the cast, but it all adds to the magic of the show, and Mark Addy manages to steal the spotlight time and time again for his portrayal as Hercules.

Our hero Jason is played by the relatively unknown Jack Donnelly - now a household name around the country - and he plays the role well, shining when it calls time for him to be gallant and proud.

Much also has to be said for Robert Emms in the role of Pythagoras, and Jemima Rooper who plays the strangely innocent Medusa, who both do a fine job of balancing out the roster.

Some great special effects have been used in the first few episodes, and I simply can't wait to see what the show will have to offer for the rest of this series, and the one that'll come after it.

'Atlantis' continues on BBC One, Saturday November 2 at 8.15pm.
