With the fifth season of American Horror Story right around the corner, FOX are doing well to whet the appetites of fans around the globe and have this week released a new batch of character pictures along with some new key art for the show, subtitled 'Hotel'.
Angela Bassett is film star Ramona Royle, who was once romantically connected with The Countess but is now out for revenge. Bassett says: "They are powerful women at opposite sides and at odds with one another, each believing they're right."
Cheyenne Jackson steps into the role of Will Drake, a fashion designer in from New York who arrives with his son Lachlan at the hotel. Creator Ryan Murphy says of the character: "He comes to the hotel and he is going to turn part of it into his atelier and of course he gets sucked up into the Countess."
Young male model Tristan causes some waves this season and is played by fan-favourite actor Finn Wittrock, who says: "I think he's hypersexual... It makes him a prime candidate for the Countess' charms and he is very willingly seduced and then turned by her."
Matt Bomer who plays Donovan is the Countess' lover of two decades, and finds himself tossed aside when his partner meets a new, handsome male model who takes her fancy. Bomer explains: "He's very interested in domesticity and sort of nesting and hunkering down and having her to himself every now and then, and that doesn't go over so well with her limitless hunger."
Kathy Bates is Donovan's mother Iris, overprotective and working at the hotel simply so she can keep a close eye on her offspring. "She wants to be there every day to make sure he's all right," explains Bates. "She's very controlling in that way."
Then there's Denis O'Hare, playing Liz Taylor, the Elizabeth Taylor-obssessed employee of the hotel who does the menial work around the establishment. O'Hare says: "I clean up mess, whatever that means."
American Horror Story: Hotel premieres on Tuesday 20th October 10pm on FOX in the UK.
