Former WWE Superstar and wrestler Adam 'Edge' Copeland has been cast in the upcoming second season of The Flash, with Copeland himself confirming the news on Twitter following a report on Comicbook.com
Copeland's role has also been revealed - he will step into the shoes of Atom-Smasher and will appear in the season premiere, currently filming.
The CW are describing Atom-Smasher as "one of the most powerful enemies... Atom-Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash.
"His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him."
Though Atom-Smash, also known as Al Rothstein is a hero in the comic books universe, Flash executive producer Geoff Johns established the character as avenging the death of his mother in JSA.
This could be a storyline that is then embedded within the show going forward.
The Flash returns in America on The CW from October 6.
