Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad

As 2013 is set to peak it’s head out soon, and with it comes a whole new raft of exciting TV for us to consume.

Be it older shows returning, the biggest shows finishing or new programmes getting their moment in the sun, we’ve had a look forward and picked out the five things we can’t wait to see in 2013 on TV.

The End Of Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad has had a difficult life over here in the UK. But despite never picked up by a channel over here and being forced to live by word of mouth and DVD box sets, Breaking Bad has become a cult hit in Britain, as well as a legitimate, mainstream success story in its native U.S.

Over that last few years, the show has become a critical favourite and is widely regarded as one of the best dramas to have graced American TV in this new golden age.

Now though sees the creative force behind the show deciding that time has come for the tale of one man’s descent into darkness to reach its conclusion. Thankfully it’s a decision coming from the writers, not the executives who would surely love to see the show stay around for another year.

What fate will await Walter and Jesse come the end of the show? Will Walter White even exist by the end of the show or will only Heisenberg stand in his shoes? These are only questions we can find the answer out to in 2013.

Skins Coming Back One Last Time

Skins is absolutely one of the shows that will define British television over the last decade as well as E4 as a channel.

While the cast of characters has always been fluctuating, time has finally come to call on the teenage drama with this year seeing it finish for the very last time.

It’s planning to go out with a bang though, bringing back three of its most loved characters for three feature length special editions called Pure, Rise and Fire.

We can’t think of a better send off for the show than seeing what Effy, Cook and Cassie have been getting up to over the last couple of years (apart from maybe getting Dev Patel and Nicholas Hoult back for one last story).

Where Game Of Thrones Goes

While it’s known for delivering rather good cliff-hangers, but the one that the show dropped at the end of the second series mad all others look like a mere trifle.

Now with the dragons old enough to toast a man alive and an army of White Walkers descending on The Wall, what impact is that going to have on the rest of the world?

It's not just that we want to know. What will become of our favourite vengeful child Arya? What will happen to Tyrion and John Snow? What did Stannis see in the fire?

We love every minute we spend in Westeros, so to say that we’re anxiously pacing up and down waiting for our third dose is nowhere near an exaggeration.

Kevin Bacon!

While we might have all seen the mobile phone advert a few too many times, 2013 is the year where we can all Bacon up our TV’s as he returns to American primetime in FOX’s new show The Following.

The horror thriller from the creator of The Vampire Diaries is set to debut in the States this January, with its UK bow coming on Sky Atlantic a little later in the year  and we can’t wait to see Kevin Bacon lighting up our screens each week.

While the show is going to be darker than a black hole in a moody alley, the added inclusion of the continuously brilliant James Purefoy makes this most definitely one we’ll be checking out when our chance comes.

Doctor Who’s New Gal Pal

While she’s set to be introduced in this year’s Christmas special (this is being written before that airs) we really want to see what Jenna Louise Coleman brings to the table as companion Clara.

After the tear jerking climax of Amy and Rories time in the Tardis this year, we really want to see if Moffat is true to his word in saying that Clara is a very different type of companion to the married couple before. Even then, will we grow to love the pint sized time traveller, or will we just end up missing the Ponds even more?

The one thing that makes all of this even more interesting is Coleman’s appearance in the series’ first episode ‘Asylum Of The Darleks’ as a completely different character. How will that meld in to the greater story?
