With the new series of Doctor who just waiting for release this weekend, we here at FemaleFirst have decided to let you in on everything we know about the latest adventures of our favourite Doctor.
Asylum of the Daleks
Series seven is set to kick off with a bang with the return of an old favourite, the Daleks.
The scariest things ever to wield a sink plunger, and that includes bad plumbers the world over, are back on our screens in the series opener, but not like you’ve ever seen them before.
In a move that will excite Whovians the world over, the episode will feature Daleks from throughout the ages, after they off all things, ask the Doctor for help.
They need the Doctor and his loyal cohorts to get something from the planet Asylum, where, living up to its name, is a prison housing insane Daleks. Yep, that’s right, Daleks can get nuttier than they already are.
With inmates that the Dalek Emperors are scared off, we’re sure that it’s not going to be smooth ride for the Doctor, Amy and Rory, with actor Arthur Darvill even saying that the show’s producers have gone ‘All out’ on the series premiere.
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
It’s all in the name. Just like the infamous Samuel L Jackson film Snakes on a Plane that featured, well, lots of snakes on an aircraft, this episode will see lots of prehistoric lizards on a space ship.
With the titular spaceship plummeting towards the Earth, the Doctor must figure out how the heck a 65 million year old spaceship exists, why there are dinosaurs there in the first place and of course try to save the day (as always). All while riding a triceratops.
With Harry Potter actor and comedianMark Williams confirmed to be playing Rory’s dad in the episode, it may not just be dinosaur related hi-jinks that fuel our interest here.
A Town Called Mercy
Who doesn’t love a good western? Sun baked earth, Sheriff’s trying to make their little corner of Earth a better place to live in and all the Stetson hats you could ever dream off. Marvelous. Mix in a bow tie wearing Time Lord. Genius.
A Town Called Mercy will see the Doctor and the Ponds landing in a mysterious Old West town under siege from a cyborg bounty hunter.
Filmed in the same locations as many a spaghetti western over the years in Spain, this episode will see some real departures for the show. The Doctor not caring about a moral quandary and him carrying a gun.
Have the years in the time vortex started to take their toll on our favourite doctors psyche? We can only wait and find out how his hootenanny shakes out.
The Power of Three
The best kept secret of this series (apart from how Mr and Mrs Pond disappear), we only have a few details on The Power of Three for you.
We do know that the episode will be about the Earth being invaded by little black cubes. No ideas what they are or what they want, but we do know that nobodies doing too much about it. We also know that instead of shouting and charging in, we’re going to see the Doctor moving in with the Ponds.
That’s not going to end well for anybody.
This being Doctor Who though we know the proverbial waste will hit the fan and that Rory’s wearing his nurse’s outfit in the show’s promotional poster (click here to see them all, they’re definitely worth your time) can’t be too good a sign.
The Angels Take Manhattan
Here it is folks, the end of the line for the family Pond. We don’t know how or why, but this is the last episode of the series that will feature Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill before they leave the series.
Taking place in modern day New York City, this supposed tearjerker will not only feature the return of River Song (or should we now call her Melody Pond?) but the comeback of the show’s best villains to date, the Weeping Angels.
The stone monsters that kill with kindness, stealing your years by sending you back in time, with a hidden nefarious plan that’s being kept under wraps tighter than MI5 documents.
After that, who knows what Steven Moffat and his team have in mind, but with the Christmas special and then another eight episodes of this series to come next year, this is only the tip of this Whovian iceberg. We can’t wait to see every square inch of it.
Series 7 of Doctor Who starts on BBC One on Saturday 1st of September.
