Are you ready to jet off on your summer vacation? Have you remembered the most important thing of all besides your passport? Travel Insurance!
www.vouchercloud.com found that 34% of British holiday-makers are travelling without sufficient insurance, risking an average medical fee of £747 for those who require treatment abroad.
According to the study from top money-saving brand, the 34% who admitted to not being covered whilst on holiday, 63% have never received medical treatment while abroad.
However, many Brits have had an unexpected trip to the hospital with the top reason being due to broken limbs. Not what you hope for during your summer escape- along with many contracting the sickness bug.
Top 5 medical treatment required:
1. Broken Limbs – 67%
2. Sickness Bugs – 56%
3. Viral Infections – 34%
4. Drinking related conditions/accidents – 28%
5. Dehydration – 21%
Matthew Wood of vouchercloud made the following comments: “I think that what this shows is a need for education in how cheap travel insurance can be, with some single-trip insurance being as low as £15. Surely that is a better price to pay for the security of knowing that if you need medical assistance abroad, you aren’t going to be stung with an enormous bill and potentially ruin your trip. The unexpected can happen at any time to anyone, so for the sake of an extra few pounds, it really isn’t worth the risk.”
