Virgin Atlantic turned the big 3-0 this month and to celebrate they treated 30 pairs of lucky Londoners to flights from London to the Big Apple.
Virgin Atlantic brought a fleet of iconic New York cabs to London to whisk the lucky jetsetters off for the ultimate American adventure: A weekend in New York City!
The authentic New York cabs hit the streets of London and made their way to a selection of iconic London landmarks, offering Londoners the chance to drop everything, jump in a taxi, and jet off to NYC there and then.
The winners were whisked off by the Virgin Atlantic cabin crew to a secret check-in location, before heading directly to London Heathrow, where they boarded the VS1, bound for the Big Apple spending the weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Financial District.
Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic founder and president, said: “Sunday 22nd June marked a huge milestone for us as we celebrated our 30th birthday and we wanted the city of London to celebrate with us.
"Since our inaugural flight from Gatwick to Newark, New Jersey on 22nd June 1984, we have become one of the world’s leading airlines, bringing the glamour and excitement back to flying."
He added: “We wanted to share our spirit of adventure and a bit of Virgin Atlantic magic with the people that have helped us to reach this milestone: our customers. We loved letting our fleet of cabs loose and bringing a taste of New York – one of our most popular destinations - to London in celebration”.
