We've watched him travel to the seven wonders of the world and take part in a bucket list of places to visit and things to do before you die, experiences that many would be thrilled to go on, Karl's journeys haven't always been as pleasant. However, millions of viewers have warmed to his unique, bold, straight-talking and down right funny ways in which he explains his views of the world.
Now, the original Idiot Abroad has beat Joanna Lumley, Ben Fogle and Billy Connolly to the top spot with his unconventional travel programmes.
In response to his great triumph, Karl made a short acceptance video in which he said: "Good that, well chuffed with that. I'll pop that on the shelf, probably right next to my new book I've brought out..."
Now in its fourth year, the annual Customers’ Awards attracted votes from 101,000 HolidayExtras.com customers who travelled via a UK airport between April and August 2012. Travellers voted in categories including Best Airline, Best Travel Agent, Best UK Airport, Best Airport Hotel and Best Airport Car Park.
