We would all love to wake up to the sound of singing birds or swaying waves everyday, but what about the the noises or sounds that would make you hide under the covers rather than get out of bed?
Hotel chain Holiday Inn has found that one in ten Brits believe Rylan Clark, this year’s controversial singer on the X Factor UK, would be the most chilling noise to wake up to.
The warbling wannabe finished fourth in the One Poll survey of 2,000 people to discover Britain’s most terrifying wake-up noise.
Everybody feels less inclined to wake up in the winter months, and it’s harder than ever to drag ourselves out of the warmth and into the cold
The news comes as bloggers debate whether Rylan Clark, 23, is the worst X-Factor finalist ever after the Essex model survived another week on the ITV talent contest, despite Gary Barlow labelling it a ‘joke’ that the aspiring crooner had been kept in the competition.
Tamara Strauss from Holiday Inn said: "It's clear from this research that should Rylan make it another week in the X Factor he has to go down as the ultimate scary trick for Brits on what's already the spookiest night of the year.”
As the dark nights set in, we find it so hard as a nation to wake up that 1 in 5 of us admit to putting our alarms on the other side of the room in order to force ourselves out of bed in the morning.
The survey also looked at the nation’s favourite things to wake up to – top of the list was the sun shining through the window, followed by the smell of cooked bacon and being gently woken by your partner.
Tamara added: "Everybody feels less inclined to wake up in the winter months, and it’s harder than ever to drag ourselves out of the warmth and into the cold. Fortunately all of our guests can look forward to a restful, and nightmare free stays over Halloween without the need for shocking wake up calls to get them out of bed.”
