Never Assume …

… that your holiday rep has your mobile number and will call you if you are not where you should be.  She does not so she will not call you and you may find yourself stranded at the airport.

… that if you specify a vegetarian diet that is what you will get.  In some countries they think vegetarians eat chicken and fish.

… that the sun will shine every day of your holiday.  Every destination has weather.

… that hotel pictures are entirely accurate.  Most hotels are near or on a road – how else will you get there?

… that you can change your package when you arrive at your destination.  Wine with dinner means just that and not ‘drink of choice’ with dinner.

… that asking for a ‘room with a view’ will ensure you get the view you want – every room has a view of something including the dustbins at the back.

… that the brochure pictures are totally realistic – tour operators have Photoshop too and not every beach has white sand.

… that because a hotel says it has air conditioning it will actually be switched on as some hotels turn it off in autumn and will not turn it on again until spring.

… that a request for a ‘quiet room’ will result in a room on a top floor with a lovely view as you will probably be put at the back overlooking the air conditioning units but you will be away from the road/pool/sea.

And finally … never ever assume that everything written on TripAdviser is accurate – read several reviews and read between the lines.
