A holiday in England is great fun for all the family

With the weather being unexpectedly hot at the moment, the English tourist industry is booming. If you’re looking to book a last minute holiday, why not consider these holiday destinations in England?

Whether you want to relax on a beach or entertain your kids, these holidays will be perfect for you – and they’ll come at a cheaper price as well.

The Lake District

The Lake District contains some of the most stunning landscapes in the British Isles. There are plenty of quaint villages to visit or even opportunities to hire your own boat to take out on the lakes.

For the kids, why not visit the Beatrix Potter World at Bowness-on-Windermere? They’ll love seeing their favourite characters coming to life before their eyes.

Bowness is one of the most popular destinations in the Lakes and it’s great for a short break.

Wells, Somerset

Perhaps lesser well known is the beautiful city of Wells in Somerset. Situated in the Mendip hills, Wells boasts a large cathedral and a popular market, as well as the high street shops you love.

Also within easy driving distance is Cheddar Gorge. Full of attractions and naturally occurring caves, Cheddar Gorge may put you back a few pounds, but it’s well worth it.

Why not try challenging your kids to see if they can reach the top of Jacob’s Ladder whilst you’re there?

Helston, Cornwall

Another lovely place to base yourself is Helston in Cornwall. Cornwall provides a relaxing beach holiday, as it is full of golden sands along every stretch of the coastline.

Lusty Glaze beach near Newquay is a great one to try, as it is sheltered and has plenty of local amenities.

Depending on how far you are willing to drive, there’s also Land’s End to discover as well as various harbours along the coast. In Cornwall you’ll never be stuck for something to do as there is so much to see and do for all ages.

Another advantage is that the south west of England tends to get plenty of good weather, so you won’t be stuck wondering what to do because of rain.

Northam, North Devon

North Devon is perfect if you’re a fan of walking and seeing the countryside.

There are plenty of coastal paths and secluded walks in the forest to reacquaint yourself with the English countryside as well the Exmoor National Park to visit.

Mortehoe Point is a challenging but satisfying coastal walk – be prepared to cross a stream and get wet!

The beach at Westward Ho! is also great to try out, and the sleepy village Appledore is lovely to walk around at leisurely pace and enjoy an ice cream or two beside the river.

This holiday works best when there’s plenty of good weather, so be careful if the forecast isn’t very good.

Cromer, Norfolk

A holiday in Norfolk means you get the best of all worlds – beautiful countryside, thriving cities and popular beaches.

Norwich is busy city for all your shopping needs, as well as smaller towns and villages such as Holt if you’re looking for something a little different.

There are plenty of beaches along the Norfolk coast for all the family to enjoy, or you could visit the famous Norfolk Broads to taste a bit of the local colour.

Wherever you decide to go, England really is a wonderful place to be to spend your summer break without the hassle of organising travel abroad. Why not make the most of the weather whilst it’s here?
