Last month I spent a few days in Florida’s trendiest city, Miami. It was my second time visiting the vibrant cultural destination famous for its Art Deco Architecture and it won’t be my last. I fell in lust on my first visit and love on my second! The glamourous city has something for everyone but to narrow it down, here’s my personal favourite top five things to do in Miami.
Hit the Beach
Miami has one of the prettiest city front beaches in the world. Just footsteps away from iconic early-20th-century architecture Miami’s sandy shoreline stretches wide. The palm lined beaches and year-round warm weather attract thousands of tourists a year with South beach in particular drawing in the high profile crowds. The beaches are public and therefore often busy but travelling during high season results in an unforgettable atmosphere despite the heavier crowds!
Walk through Wynwood Walls
Miami’s famous graffiti town. Wynwood Walls is a mini district of colourful and impressive street art that is completely public and free to view. Artists from around the world have lent a hand in crafting streets worth of unique and bespoke wall murals. You can grab a coffee and stroll through the colourful and diverse streets whilst enjoying the alternative displays without spending a penny!
Discover Faena
The Faena Hotel is more than just a place to stay. This quirky and fabulously unusual hotel is a based in what is now recognized as it’s very own district of Faena. The extravagant Art Deco décor is ostentatious and dreamy and the outdoor area boasts the world’s most ‘over-the-top’ pool experience. The hotel is also home to some rather impressive art pieces including Damien Hirst’s Golden Mammoth.
Party, Party, Party
Miami has long been known as Florida’s flashiest party destination, with a sophisticated and glamorous nightlife that attracts thousands of tourists a year. Sunday night’s at LIV are world renowned but every night of the week is a party in Miami.
The city is also one of the few in the world with a full day time set-up when it comes to the party scene during high season. The famous Pool Parties at SLS and Mondrian can be booked up weeks in advance and promise a party in the sun you won’t easily forget!
Stay at Eden Roc Miami Beach
In a city known for it’s hipster style Art Deco buildings, Eden Roc Resort is the perfect mix of Modern design whilst staying true to Miami’s trendsetting architecture. The four star hotel is often described as an Oceanside Treasure and is many A-Listers first choice of home away from home when visiting Miami. The hotel is perfectly located and features an award winning spa and fitness centre. It’s also home to the Iconic Nobu restaurant.
