The Hobbit: An unexpected journey is out on Friday

Ahead of the UK premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Wednesday, Air New Zealand has released some exclusive video content of director Sir Peter Jackson and The Hobbit cast on how New Zealand was transformed into Middle-earth for the film.

The short video is a guided tour and small insight of Middle-earth by the actors on location, who describe New Zealand as having 'a variety of scenery and landscape, unmatched', 'so many incredible places', 'beauty fatigue' and 'paradise'.

Director, Sir Peter Jackson is seen flying in a helicopter above some of the country's most stunning places in search of the perfect locations for The Hobbit films.

The actors also point out that the movies location scouts and Sir Peter Jackson himself pushed all boundaries in finding the most remote areas of New Zealand that were used to depict middle-earth, so as not to result to the same locations as where the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was filmed.
