A report has revealed Spain was the top destination with Brits this summer.
The market report from HomeAway.co.uk showed that more British holidaymakers travelled to Spain in summer 2011 than anywhere else, according to booking enquires from the site.
The report also highlighted the trend towards short haul holidays, with 9 out of the 10 top destinations this summer either being in the UK or being less than a 3 hour flight away.
The only destination that was an exception in the holidaymaker survey was Florida, USA.
3 out of the 10 hot spots were in Spain; the most popular being Malaga Province which topped the list, followed by Majorca and then Ibiza in sixth place.
These findings could be a result of budget holidays becoming popular due to the recession and the lack of disposable cash amongst families and holidaymakers.
The report also found that there was a trend towards rural getaways, with rural holidays to destinations such as Tuscany, being second popular after beach breaks.
