Ever since I watched Jonathan Creek as a teenager (and bought myself the dvd box set in last year's January sales) I have always wanted to live in a windmill….
Whilst I know that's probably never going to happen, I have now set my sights on saving up for this whole year and treating myself to a windmill holiday in 2012.… so over the next week or two, I'm going to share with you my favourite windmills on the web.
The Old Windmill, Norfolk
The Old Windmill in Norfolk was built in 1826 and for almost 100 years was a working flour mill.
Converted into luxurious self-catering accommodation for six people over four floors, the mill is situated on the outskirts of Aylsham, a historic market town. A double and twin room are located on the second floor with a king size room and en-suite on the third floor, all with wood beams.
The open plan living area encompasses a fully fitted kitchen, lounge with two sofas and armchairs, dining table with six chairs and hearth with woodburner effect gas fire.
The mill is 100 metres from the Marriotts Way cycle trail close to the Bure Valley steam railway. Mid season one week breaks cost £515 with short breaks available. Telephone 01263 732118.
