Outchester Ducket

Outchester Ducket

Ever since I watched Jonathan Creek as a teenager (and bought myself the dvd box set in last year's January sales) I have always wanted to live in a windmill….

Whilst I know that's probably never going to happen, I have now set my sights on saving up for this whole year and treating myself to a windmill holiday in 2012.… so over the next week or two, I'm going to share with you my favourite windmills on the web.

THE OUTCHESTER DUCKET

The Outchester Ducket, near Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland is a restored Grade II listed, 18th century stone dovecote tower converted into a top 5-star rated Northumberland hideaway.

It provides a romantic escape for two cooing lovebirds of the fittish variety, happy to clamber up and down its 65 feet. It’s split over five floors with wi fi and underfloor heating throughout. Each floor serves a different function:  ground floor - bathroom, first floor - bedroom, second floor - kitchen, third floor - sitting room, and top floor the library.

The Ducket has fabulous wrap-round views of Lindisfarne Castle, the Northumberland coastline and Cheviot Hills. It is located about half a mile from Budle Bay in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the peerless Northumberland coast with spectacular castles rising from crags above endless skirts of white sand.

The Outchester Ducket costs from £500 per week. For more information visit visitnorthumberland.com
