I don’t demand luxury, I fit easily in wherever I stay but when I find myself in luxurious surroundings it’s fair to say I like to immerse myself in the moment, pamper, dress up, enjoy good food, and generally enjoy the luxury.
So, needless to say when the opportunity arose to check out the recently refurbished Park Plaza in Victoria London set in London’s West End minutes from Oxford Street, Knightsbridge, Bond Street, and Covent Garden.
The Park Plaza offers luxury accommodation that includes, Superior rooms, Executive and Studio Rooms, One and Two-bedroom Apartments with terraces, and more, so would I miss the chance – I don’t really think so!
We arrived in London early Saturday morning with the intention to take in London’s shops and with a busy evening ahead, we were recommended to dine in the Tozi Restaurant, try out the brand new ‘Gin Bar’ so we headed from Victoria to check-in and order our meals, before hitting the shops.
Staff at check-in were incredibly helpful, friendly and hospitable. They got us from reception up to our room in a remarkably short time, this was no easy feat as we had arrived as the lights came back on following a power cut that affected much of the surrounding area – so no easy task under the circumstances but they dealt with it superbly.
I'm not entirely sure just what I expected when I walked into the room, but I had the knowledge it would be amongst the most glamorous of places I've had the chance to stay. Walking in, it certainly didn't disappoint.
A large room decorated with a table and plant is the first thing you see. It seems a little curious at first, but it's the perfect little go-between for the bathroom, which is on your left, and the living room and bedroom, which are on the right.
The bathroom is beautifully decorated. A gigantic mirror runs on the wall behind the wash basin and toilet, sitting opposite a large window and bath for those who enjoy a soak.
The runaway gem of the bathroom however, is the incredible shower. Jets sit on either side of the wall to blast your body whilst you clean up, with a soaker above you. This means that at any one time, you can have powerful jets blasting the dirt, grime, and your troubles away.
The hotel provides everything you'll need during your stay, presenting a selection of spa items within the bathroom.
A complimentary coffee machine with pods, as well as complimentary teabags are provided in the living room, and there's a fully-stocked minibar if you fancy a drink or snack, with prices included in the in-room dining menu.
A sofa sits in front of a television, perfect as you eat, or take some time out from the rush of the city.
As for the bedroom, a king-size bed sits in the middle of the room, with huge wardrobes for those who were having a long stay and wanted to keep their smart clothes creaseless. The bed itself was incredibly comfortable, and the perfect to sink into after a long day of walking throughout London.
So, after a quick shower and change we set off into the West End to take advantage of London’s shops.
As I said we were booked in at the Park Plaza’s Tozi Restaurant for the evening, the Tozi is a Venetian-Italian restaurant, which a menu of cicchetti (small plates) to share. We paired our meal with one of top-drawer wines to make dinner to add something extra special.
Not enough good can be said about the impeccable flavour in every bite, whether from the the starters, through to the main courses, and being a ‘sweet person’, I must add the desserts where delicious.
After-dinner we retired to the sleek modern Lounge Bar to sample a number of the Plaza’s specialist Gin cocktails.
As an overall experience, the Park Plaza find sits as one of the best hotels I have stayed in, from the wonderful staff, to the beautiful Studio rooms, the gorgeous food in the Tozi Restaurant.
After this wonderful experience I hope to return at some point in the future!
