We made it our mission while on Jersey to search for some of the best but from those that were a bit out of the ordinary that offered something different. Here are what we found, although I am sure there are many more on the Island but these were the ones we tried.

Number 10 Restaurant and Bar

Number 10 Restaurant and Bar

Number 10 Restaurant & Bar

Number 10 is a family run restaurant & bar from local chef Joseph Baker who recently appeared on BBC’s Great British Menu.

The restaurant serves modern British & European food in a relaxed setting, with a focus on seasonal local produce and a regularly changing menu in an intimate, romantic, and welcoming surroundings, delivered by helpful staff.

Joe and his team truly believe in being uncompromising about using the best local produce, treated with care and imagination.

The menu has a mix of fine dining and local delights, simple dishes like fish and chips is lifted from mundane to exquisite, the locally sourced seafood is outstanding, and as a pudding person I was totally spoilt for choice they have a choice of delicious desserts all of which I would have enjoyed – but lets not be greedy.

Down below is Bar 10 is the basement cocktail and wine bar, this is the perfect place to have a pre or post dinner drink, or if you do not want a full meal try the small plates, or just a drink with friends and relax in the great atmosphere.

Great food, great service, extremely welcoming any Jersey visit wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Number 10.

The Hungry Man

The Hungry Man Rozel Bay
The Hungry Man Rozel Bay

Take a trip out to Rozel Bay, with its stunning views across Les Ecrehous to France, these are reason enough to make the trip but the quayside there offers a quirky waterside café serving up some of the best snacks, meals, cakes and pastries

The Hungry Man is noted for its gourmet burgers, crab sandwiches, and certainly not to be missed - their delicious homemade cakes, many with as you would expect Jersey clotted cream.

Take the challenge, try the famous Double Decker Health Wrecker, the breakfasts are legendry, and don’t worry if you are a vegetarian, they have plenty of different vegan options for lunch and the best vegan cakes I have tasted.

Seating is all al fresco, which is great during the summer but if you visit later in the year be sure to rug up in the chillier months so you can take in the stunning views while enjoying great food. The atmosphere is relaxed, unhurried, and completely in tune with its surroundings of beautiful Rozel Bay – satisfying appetites since 1947.

This quirky little café that serves up gourmet food and a friendly helpful team that just can’t do enough for you.

Portelet Bay Café

Portelet Bay Cafe
Portelet Bay Cafe

Next on our list is the Portelet Bay Cafe is set right on the beach at Portelet Bay in Jersey, Channel Islands. The bay sits between the conservation areas of Noirmont and Portelet Common and is outstandingly beautiful.

Not accessible by car the only way is either by the recently uncovered the original steps and walkways throughout the gardens to the bay or by boat and as they say themselves, this makes it all the more special and unique, far from traffic and a perfect place to sit, chill, and unwind in an atmosphere that is warm relaxed and welcoming.

Run with the philosophy to provide the highest quality and the freshest food possible, with a small menu which changes to keep up with the changing availability of produce.

Antipasti sharing platter of Prosciutto, anchovies, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, homemade pesto, rocket salad, mozzarella, capers, humous and a flatbread from the wood fired oven. Mains Margherita Buffalo pizza and a Pepperoni pizza with sides of salad. Dessert Panna Cotta. All washed down with a glass of prosecco.

Complements to the chef the food was absolutely delicious, the wood fired ovens added something extra to the taste and the salads were so fresh and tasty.

Once again, we succeeded in finding a restaurant that was something special, something different, but served up great food.

Well done team Portelet Bay Café.
