packing stress

packing stress

Hotwrite.com reveals that one third of Brits say that their stress levels significantly increase one week before their holidays, as they aim to box off everything at work.  The main cause of this is the feeling that we have paid too much for our holidays and 7 out of 10 people say that they would feel better about going away if they know that they have got a good deal.

The good news is that holiday stress does not last a long time and once Brits have landed, they tend to wind down fast. (Eight out of ten admit to switching off from their work life as soon as they have landed, whereas only 4% of people admit to not being able to relax at all, no matter how long their holiday is.

Holiday stress differs for each person, with 4% admitting that they feel stressed as soon as they start holiday shopping and 15% say that it begins when they start packing. Two fifths of people believe that their holiday starts as soon as they board the plane or they get on the train or into the car to get to their destination. 16% are tense until they get to their holiday location and 5% worry about fitting into their swimming costume.

“Our research shows that going away for four days or more and ensuring you get the best deal on your getaway is the perfect combination to allow us to fully forget about work and focus on relaxation while on vacation,” comments Fulvia Montresor, travel expert and senior director at Hotwire.com.

“We also found that most Brits manage to get into the holiday spirit on the first or second day of their break, so no matter if you only have a weekend or have the whole week, we urge people to travel now as there are a plentiful amount of deals available, even at the last minute on discount sites like Hotwire. So, rest, relaxation and savings are just a few searches away,” she added.

“During this time, Hotwire can help by offering hotels at up to 50% off, helping reduce one of the leading causes of holiday stress – over paying,” Fulvia Montresor added.

Here are her top travel tips:

1.      Hotwire.com can find you some of the best holiday deals around and when booking a secret hotel you can get up to 50% off on 4 and 5 start hotels.

2.   Shop around for travel insurance don’t just buy the first you come across, as you can get cheaper deals if you spend a little time looking into this.

3.       Try booking midweek, the most expensive times are weekends as people tend to stay weekend to weekend, so try and book Monday to Thursday. If your flight is not a long one try and get indirect flights as this will also save you money.

4.  City breaks tend to be cheaper, as those on business travel during the week for meetings and conferences so this leaves the weekends free for tourists. Business travellers tend to get budgets for regular travel which means tourists have to pay the full price to compensate and weekends are the perfect time not to compete with this.
