Packing for a summer festival can be difficult as it is hard to gauge the weather and knowing what essentials to bring can be a nightmare. But make sure you don't overpack by following these tips.
Don't pack your wardrobe - You're at a festival not a fashion shoot. Don't overfill your bag with all your designer clothes but instead bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty. And it's okay to wear the same clothes more than once, everyone will be doing the same and it will make extra room in your bag. Wellies are esstenial as it can get very muddy, especially if it rains. I would recommend bringing shorts, vest tops and a hoody but it might be a good idea to bring joggers and jumpers for the evenings as it may become colder later on.
Bring a tent and a sleeping bag - Okay, so this one might be obvious but remember to bring your tent and sleeping bag along with you. It may be ideal to buy a thick sleeping bag as the night's can be cold. Bringing extra covers such a blanket may also be ideal. It is important that you learn how to pitch a tent before you head off to your chosen festival too as you don't want to spend hours trying to pitch it up and humiliating yourself in front of everyone. Altertnativly bring a pop up tent which is easy to set up and can be up in under 5 minutes.
Don't burn, pack the suncream - Spending 3 days outside with the sun blaring (hopefully) will get yourself burnt if you're not careful. It is important to add suncream regulary as it does not only stop you from burning but decreases the chances of developing skin cancer.
Take a scrunchie and ditch the makeup - So we've accepted we're not going to be looking our best but that's half the fun of a festival. We don't need to glamour up and can just throw our hair back and go natural. If you really can't live without makeup however, bring some foundation and mascara. Don't make the mistake of bringing your entire makup bag however, you'll stand out too much from the crowd.
Pack the baby wipes and deodrant - Although we won't be showering for a few days, unless you want to pay and queue up in the mile long line, it is important to look after our hygine. Take some dry shampoo to keep hair looking fresh and clean yourself each morning and night with baby wipes to keep yourself feeling fresh throughout the day.
Take a cheap phone that you don't mind losing - It is natural to lose your phone whilst at a festival so it will be a good idea to take an old pay-as-you-go phone that you don't mind losing.
Pack snacks and bring plenty of water - Although there are many food stalls at festivals these can be relatively expensive. It is ideal to pack snacks to give you a boost of energy when you start feeling hungry. Also bring water to keep you dehydrated throughout the festival although their are many places around the campsite that allows you to fill up your water bottle for free.
Don't forget the beer - When you are at a festival, it is likely you will be consuming your fair share of alcohol. You can buy alcohol in the area but this can be expensive. Packing alcohol to drink at the campsite is one of the main benefits of camping, however don't drink too much as the days are long and you do not want to be feeling ill whilst standing in a crowd at the main stage.
