Blue Rainbow Apart Hotel

Blue Rainbow Apart Hotel

Relying on your sat nav is never a good idea in a city centre from experience, and this one was no different. Despite being difficult to find as it is located in a complicated network of roads with very little signage to show where the reception is located, once you find the hotel, you forget about all that.

The door to the hotel was secured so not to let anyone in who is not a guest. It had disable access, with a large lift next to the stairs and contemporary décor.

I was a little concerned about where to park, as city centres are notoriously expensive and not very safe, however, when speaking to the receptionist he gave me a code to access their private car park which was beneath the hotel. We keyed in the code and the secure shutters opened up an underground car park to store our car in overnight with the option to leave it there is wished to stay past check in for an extra £14.99.

The check in was swift and the man on reception was very friendly and professional and dressed in a suit which made my first impression one of a very high standard.

Once we were on our floor, the walkway overlooked a central area on the ground floor decorated with high plants and pebbles that provided and airy and outdoorsy feel to the hotel, an attractive focal point for the eye while searching for your room.

As hinted in the title of the establishment, the hotel functions as a hotel as well as apartments for people staying for longer periods, it offered an alternative to other hotels in which I have stayed. We stayed in a business class room, which was complete with a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room and dining area.

The Poggen Pohl kitchen as fully functional with an entire box of tea, coffee and biscuits, as well as a bottle of fresh milk in the fridge. The cupboards were stocked with pans and cutlery if you wanted to stay in and cook.

There was also a washing machine, dishwasher and iron and ironing board. The living area had a 42” TV, with the option of basic channels and the opportunity to upgrade to watch the latest movies. Also in the living room was an IPod dock, DVD player, keyboard and phone.

The bedroom had extra pillows, 600 thread count Egyptian cotton and an air con unit, which was essential last week during the heat wave! There was also a safe in the wardrobe.

The bathroom was a good size with free shampoo, conditioner, a shower cap and manicure set with plenty of towels.

The entire apartment was clean and modern with tasteful Italian decoration. The view was not the best, as there was a building site next to the hotel; however I accept that this is not the fault of the establishment.

I was unable to sample the breakfast and room service, newspaper or evening meal service as these were not on offer; however this had the advantage of the freedom to eat when we wanted, without restriction, which made a pleasant change to other hotels we have stayed in.

In terms of location, the hotel was a ten minute walk to the middle of the city and arriving late at night we were able to find somewhere to eat almost straight away, with the wide variety of restaurants that were on offer in close proximity.

The hotel was right by the train station, taxi ranks and bus services as well as having many bars on its doorstep.

The hotel is most appropriate for business class, as it serves as a good base for people staying longer than a night or weekend, who do not want to eat out for their entire stay.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Manchester for business or for a short recreational break. I stayed with my partner and it served us well as a base for going out for our evening meal and for going into Manchester shopping the day after.

Although we didn’t take advantage of it, there is a gym and fitness suite, as well as the opportunity to upgrade to a premium apartment.

The Trafford Centre was only a 20 minute drive from the hotel for those wanting to go a bit further afield too.

Check out time was generous, at 11am, so those needing a rest need not rush.

A very pleasant stay, thankyou Blue Rainbow Apart Hotels!
