The Alton Towers Water Park, located inside the Splash Landings Hotel is most definitely for children and families. As two adults approaching 30, we were attracted to the water slides, however many of the other features were not designed for older couples.
The water park is deceptive as many of its slides also slither outside of the building, making many of the shoots pleasantly surprising and unique additions.
The Master Blaster Water Coaster sees you go down the chute on an inflatable ring which circles the entire park high above everyone else. I found this ride the most exhilarating as it was fast and not only dropped you down some steep declines, also pushed you upwards with water jets on the uphill climbs.
The Rush and Rampage slides are designed to go down with rings, one which spirals down to the bottom, the other in part darkness to add to the experience.
The Flash Floods take you outside, and the water keeps you warm while you embrace the chilliness of the fresh air.
The Lazy River is a great place to venture into for a bit of relief from the fact pace of the flumes and also spans in a big loop around the park.
The Bubble Pool is another place to recoup from your exertions on the upper levels!
The Wacky Waterworks Tree House and The Tipping Bucket are the best places to find your target and shoot! I must admit I got caught out a few times while walking past this one as I got soaked by my unsuspecting predators!
The Little Leak also provides an area for very little ones next to seating area for mums and dads to watch them.
The park has a buffet and a snack bar for those who are peckish after or before and a large changing room with showers.
Overall if you are visiting as a family with younger children it is the perfect addition to your stay. It is fun, safe and well manned for the peace of mind parents need when going on holiday. For two adults, a theme park ticket is the better option; that said, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the flumes.
