The Zombie Scare Zone
The Zombie Scare Zone at Alton Towers is like walking on the set of a recent film like 28 days later or World War Z. Manned by army men with guns, they open up the large steel doors to the compound surrounded by barbed wire and high walls to keep them out- or trap you in?
Inside, you barely pass the door and the zombies surround you, snarling, growling and sniffing you! The zombies’ costumes and make up are very realistic to the point where you pull your jacket up around your neck to protect you from being bitten! Characters that would normally encourage a sense of comfort like doctors, policemen and paramedics have suddenly taken a turn for worst and are out to kill you not save you!
The set is just like being in the centre of an apocalypse as you pass by abandoned buses, knocked over signs and detritus that line the road side.
As you enter the Triage tent; the zombies are there ready to jump out at you! They cleverly trick you into a false sense of security as they mesmerise you with their vacant stare right before they Jolt and jerk up towards you with open mouths and nostrils flared!
Before you leave you have to make your way through plastic sheeting which evokes memories of the classic horror movies in the genre. Seeing the shadow of a zombie right before your exit makes you run for your life before they catch and bite you!
