A bagful of money, a pair of 1.4-metre long stilts and a false leg are among the more unusual items that guests have left behind, according to research revealed by Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.
The research also showed what guests most commonly leave behind; of all the items that end up in lost property, razors make up 21.1%, books 14% and nightwear 12.3%, which might raise a few awkward questions at home.
Also revealed in the study is the answer to that age-old question of where all the odd socks end up - and it’s got nothing to do with the laundry. 52.6% of the items left behind at hotels are single socks.
“With guests from around the world walking through our doors every year, there’s not much that can surprise my staff or me, although finding the stilts was new to all of us.” comments Simon Mahon, General Manager of Park Plaza County Hall.
Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts’ lost property policy is to keep items for three months before donating them to charity. Unsurprisingly, the lost bag of money was very quickly reclaimed.
