Greece has been voted the best value holiday for 2012.
Research conducted by the UK’s leading online travel agent On the Beach shows that Greece came out on top for the best value destination for summer 2012.
Following the financial crisis in Greece, many hoteliers across the country have dramatically reduced their prices in order to attract the all important British holidaymaker.
The popular island of Santorini shows the best value with summer 2012 holiday prices down a massive 27 per cent on the previous year. Kefalonia, another popular Greek island also offers great value next year with summer prices down on average 17 per cent.
Prices for holidays in Spain, a firm favourite amongst British holidaymakers are also lower than the previous summer. Summer holidays in popular destinations such as Tenerife and Alicante are more than 20 per cent cheaper than holidays in 2011.
On the Beach has also seen a drop in prices for 2012 winter sun holidays, with the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh offering the best value. A typical 5* all-inclusive holiday is down 16 per cent on the previous year.
Alistair Daly, Marketing Director at On the Beach said: “Our research shows that many hoteliers are offering great discounts on summer holidays in order to entice the British holidaymaker. We expect many to follow suit, which is great news for people looking for great value holidays.”
