Nearly 3 million holidaying Brits will tune in to watch the Royal Wedding from abroad, according to a study out today from Travelex. 

In a poll of 2,000 people across the UK, 10% of respondents revealed they are going to be jetting off abroad to make the most of the extended break.

It means nearly 5 million people have chosen to leave the country whilst Kate & Wills tie the knot, more than double the number compared to the same weekend last year.

Top 5 Destinations

Despite being away from the action, 60 per cent of those questioned admitted that they plan to watch the royal nuptials from their holiday destinations around the globe.

The research reveals that New York is the best location to catch the action and topped the poll as the most popular getaway, with just under 1 million people expecting to head off Stateside.

Paris came in at second place while the Euro destinations of Berlin, Madrid and Rome complete the top 5 spots.

Where to watch the cake get cut

New York

Research reveals that Royal fans heading to New York can catch the action at the New York Palace Hotel Situated on Madison Avenue, the luxury hotel is hosting a special breakfast event to mark the grand occasion. 

Guests can enjoy a full English breakfast in the Drawing Room whilst watching the ceremony on flat screen TVs.

It comes as the Pound continues to strengthen against the Dollar, giving holiday makers exchanging £500 more than $50 more than this time last year.

A number of other New York hotels are also laying on special events to mark the occasion including the exclusive 5-star Trump International Hotel and Tower, One Central Park West. 

The lavish hotel is offering guests a special breakfast at their exclusive Jean Georges restaurant whilst showing the ceremony on oversized screens.  The breakfast begins at 5am with a special tasting menu fit for a Prince and Princess.

Paris

For Brits heading off to Paris, they’ll feel right at home watching the occasion at the Hotel Britannique which is bang in the centre of the historic quarter and boasts a traditionally British style and décor. 

Guests can enjoy a typically British cooked breakfast delivered to their rooms, where they can watch the live footage from the comfort of their beds - the preferred location for 12 per cent of those questioned.

Berlin

Brits heading to Berlin needn’t miss out on the action. The Circus Berlin Hostel provides cut price accommodation and a vibrant atmosphere.

Guests have WiFi access throughout the hostel so are able to watch the ceremony online at their leisure. With televisions throughout the adjoining Goldman’s Bar, guests can enjoy a beer whilst catching a clip of the ceremony on satellite TV.

Those lucky enough to belong to the exclusive chain of Soho House private members clubs can visit the Berlin branch and catch the wedding whilst immersed in luxurious surroundings.

The Soho House Berlin features a full spa and gym, a rooftop pool, restaurants, bars, and a screening room, which, subject to demand, will broadcast the whole ceremony live.

Rome
