With New Year’s Eve just around the corner panic sets in as we try to find the best party. However, if like others you find yourself in the local pub on New Year’s Eve with the same group of friends, why don’t you take the opportunity to get planning for next year and make sure you party with the best of them!
A recent survey carried out by Contiki Holidays in five European countries revealed that Spain will pull all the stops out this year with one in three people agreeing that they’re the wildest party animals. The Brits followed closely with one in ten people saying we’ll have the biggest party and 1 in 20 saying it would be the Germans.
So, with the top three party nations in place Contiki set about asking their expert Tour Managers and insider teams where they think these party animals will be for the biggest night of the year.
Even though the Spanish capital of Madrid will host a great New Year party it will be more of a traditional affair. The real Spanish party animals will be heading to Barcelona to see the New Year in with a bang.
The day is likely to start somewhere like Bauma, an old-style café-bar that's got a great ‘lazy Sunday morning feel’. Its retro battered leather seats, ceiling fans and shady tables make it a great place to meet friends, catch up over tapas and a few beers to get in the mood for the big night ahead.
Once the night sets in many head to ‘Bosc de les Fades’ otherwise translated as ‘Forest of the Fairies’, this is a very cool bar that actually feels like you’re sitting among woodlands at dusk. Waterfalls run over mirrors and you sit under a ceiling of trees and lanterns - perfect for a cosy drink before heading to the real party.
Anyone in the know in Barcelona this New Year’s Eve will be at the Verdes Records night at Espais Actuals. This is one of the main venues Sonar Festival uses for its cool warehouse atmosphere. It’s an 800 square metre art gallery where party goers dance surrounded by amazing sculptures and light combinations. The stunning venue coupled with a powerful sound system and the Verdes Records team on the decks it’s no wonder Spain will have the biggest party this year!
