We may be nearing the end of the 2009/2010 ski season but Colorado’s world class ski resorts are still reporting excellent snow fall with large measures of the white stuff hitting the Centennial State in the past week.
 
Following the weekend, Winter Park now has 62” at base and Silverton has a staggering 105”, while Vail’s base camp currently measures 32”, Aspen Highlands has over 80” and Wolf Creek currently boasts 128” providing prime skiing conditions in Colorado.
 
Colorado ski season goes right through to the summer months, so for ski bunnies after another hit of America’s finest, combined with some exciting end of season festivals and musical events, a trip to Colorado is in order.

Bud Light Air Festival
Bud Light has returned to Colorado for its 10th year to host a number of free concerts in Aspen and Snowmass. The outdoor concerts attract a huge crowd with headlining acts including the Offspring and Everclear. The closing concert for the premier spring festival takes place on 26th March at the base of Little Nell Run in Aspen.
 
Winter Park Ski Music Festival

For the past 20 years, Winter Park has been inviting young musicians to compete in its organised music competition held over two weekends in April. Judged by professional adjudicators, individuals and groups descend upon the town to perform while capturing some end of season ski and snowboard.
 
Durango Meltdown, Purgatory

To coincide with the end of season, the resort of Durango (Purgatory) invites guests to stay on post ski to celebrate it’s annual bluegrass festival. The Meltdown Festival, held from the 14th to the 16th April features three main stages - the super jam stage, Durango style barn dance and the Saturday night Celtdown. The whole town of Durango (Purgatory) comes together to celebrate bluegrass including the bars and restaurants with the flow of bluegrass music throughout the festival.
 
 
Vienna Boys Choir

On March 27th one of the world’s finest choirs will be performing at the legendary Palm Theatre in Telluride. With a 500 year legacy, the Vienna Boys Choir have gained a well deserved worldwide following. The repertoire takes in contemportary to traditional to experimental music which makes a great show for guests of all ages.
 
Core Party!
Downtown Aspen comes alive on 20th March with the ‘block party of the year’. Located on the corner of Galena Street and Cooper Avenue, this event is free to the public. With a celebration of contemporary Indie rock music, this year’s theme is Vampire Weekend. The festivities will kick off at dusk and are expected to carry on throughout the night.
