If Christmas has left you worrying about cash then don't panic, we've come up with some great tips so you can book a holiday and stay on a budget.
Pick a country carefully - Before you book anything, do some research on the country you have in mind. What's the average price for a bottle of water over there? You might find a really cheap deal somewhere, and then have to fork out loads to buy food and drink so it's good to look around.
Also, if you're planning on staying in city centres and popular area's, be prepared to pay a little more. If you're not too fussed about being a bit outside the centre resort, you could making a saving.
Use the web - Don't go for the first deal you find, shop about using the internet. There are plenty of comparison websites that will price you up the cheapest deal but be careful, not all travel companies are on these so some might need to be tracked down individually.
Family discounts - Check to see if the hotel you're looking at offers any family discounts, whether this be kids go free or offers on meals. Sometimes being emplayed by a company can offer discount opportunities off certain sites and locations.
If you're a student and between the ages of 16-25, you're entitled to a rail card which gets you a third off all your train tickets, might be something worth looking into if you're planning on doing some travelling.
If you're travelling for a long period of time, a good few months or taking a gap year, have a clear out of your stuff to help raise some cash. Especially if you're going for a while, you won't be listening to them old cd's or wearing last season's clothes when you return in a year, so part with them for cash and donate to your holiday fund.
Last minute isn't always cheaper - If you book a good few months in advance, you can pay off the holiday in installments so this way your money won't disappear. The alternative is to leave it really late and grab a good deal when you see one. The period in between these two, is normally when you'll pay the most to go.
