The Eiffel Tower
If you are spending your days wishing yourself to be anywhere but in rainy England, then you are not alone. But instead of dreaming about sun, sea and sand, why not dream about something more cultural? Do not panic, I don’t mean a museum. I mean the famous landmarks of the world. They are cultural, interesting and beautiful. Picturing yourself with a glass of wine in hand, great company and with the Eiffel Tower just in the distance makes the April Showers just disappear from your mind.
Sydney Opera House:
Built nearly forty years ago the Sydney Opera House is a unique landmark, that is known all over the world. The building is extremely unique and is one of the most famous performing arts centres in the world. It is an iconic symbol for Australia, and has put Sydney on the map. The Opera House, although surrounded by three harbours, is strangely peaceful and idyllic, which seems completely detached from the rest of it’s surroundings.
Sphinx:
One of the most memorable symbols of Egypt, The Great Sphinx of Giza, is a huge tourist attraction and one of the famous world landmarks. It is the essence of what Egypt was. This enormous statue is beautiful to look at, despite signs of it’s age. Surrounded by pyramids, the Sphinx takes you on a journey through time to when the Ancient Egyptians lived.
Colosseum:
Rome. Home to fashion, food and the Colosseum. One of the largest amphitheatres that the Roman Empire were said to have built. Modern day Rome continues to expand and grow, whilst the Colosseum takes you back to the times of gladiator contests and public executions. The stark contrast between the beauty of the theatre and the horrors went on inside is apparent, but is still an amzing landmark to behold.
Acropolis Of Athens:
Located in the centre of Greece’s capital, the Acropolis, is one of the world’s famous landmarks. Built on the top of a flat rock, The Acropolis is made up of Greek monuments. This beautiful site, representing classic civilisations, was built in dedication to it’s patron Athena. The Acropolis is artistically and culturally influential and is stunning to look at both, day and night.
Eiffel Tower:
No article on famous landmarks would be complete without the mention of the Eiffel Tower. A beautiful piece of architecture, which dates back to the 19th century. It’s stunning views draw people from all around the globe. From the different levels you get to experience Paris in a way you never have before. Miles and miles of the city can be seen from the tower and is a spectacular backdrop to family holidays or romantic getaways. The experience and beauty doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. The tower is illuminated making it equally breathtaking as it is in the day.
