Blackpool has beaten Cornwall and other famed UK beauty spots to win the title of the UK’s most inspiring coastal spot.
Ian Graham, from Blackpool, won Isla Negra winery’s ‘Inspired by the Coast’ competition, voted for by the public, with his stunning picture of the Blackpool coastline.
This year Chilean winery Isla Negra has been running a national competition celebrating all that is inspiring about the beautiful British and Irish coast by asking Brits to share their favourite coastal photos.
They received hundreds of beautiful photos which were whittled down to eight regional finalists by our panel of expert judges, Campervan Man Martin Dorey and Coastal Photographer Janice Alamanou.
They were open to the public vote, and it has recently been announced that Blackpool local Ian Graham’s photo is the overall winner.
Ian will receive a SLR digital camera worth £500 as well as his stunning photo featured on limited edition bottles of Isla Negra on sale nationwide in 2012.
Ian Graham comments: ”I have lived in Blackpool since birth, so the coast has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have walked along these beaches as a child and now walk on them with my child - it's ever changing magic never ceases to amaze me. I’m overwhelmed that my picture of Blackpool has won the title of the UK’s most inspiring coastal spot and I’ve loved taking part in a competition that celebrates the beauty of our British beaches!”
